FiveStone's Location

Cashiers and Highlands are centrally located in the heart of the Smoky Mountains. The terrain varies from steep and rugged to gently rolling hills with magnificent views of mountain ranges, mirror lakes, and cascading waterfalls. Most of the land is home to various deciduous trees, which before losing their leaves color the mountains in beautiful rays of crimson, gold, burnt orange, and magenta. The average temperatures for Cashiers during winter months range from the mid 20s to mid 40s, and summer temperatures range from mid 50s to high 70s.

Golfing, hiking, mountian biking, white water rafting, kayaking, rock climbing and water skiing are popular activities in this neck of the woods. This area is known for golfing. We have eight courses in the immediate area. One is internationally ranked 7th in the world and attracts famous athletes. Trails range from wilderness land that is low impact and intended to suit avid hikers to handicap accessible trails that are paved. Mountain biking trails also range from novice to expert levels. White water rafting is about an hour away, but well worth the trip. The Nantahala River is where the 1996 Olympians competed. Kayaking is about thirty minutes away, and also worth the trip. With a short jaunt, water ski and canoe Lake Glenville and other area lakes.
